| 内容記述 | On December 6th, 2021, just two days after the white paper called “China: Democracy that works” was published, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China issued a white paper called “The State of Democracy in the United States”. In this paper, the US was depicted as a corrupt and insidious polity, in which “democracy” is not democracy, “freedom” is not free, and the “rule of law” is not bound by the law as it claims, respectively. However, the paper is nothing more than an elaborate document, whether in its form or content, filled with distorted soundbites and anonymous citations with no footnote. Its wording is so replete with ridicule and provocation, that it is difficult to trust the information and data in the paper. Nevertheless, through valuing US democracy by the standard of “Whole Process Democracy”, which was established by Xi Jinping, it proclaims the superiority, or even universality, of its own “democracy”. Moreover, the Chinese Communist Party has a great advantage to execute self-claimed “Unrestricted Warfare”, as on one hand, it can irreciprocally employ US and the West’s democracy and freedom as its own arsenals to infiltrate, and on the other, it can integrate all national and social entities, and even individuals, under its command to enforce its policy priorities, no matter what the cost. As a consequence of the appeasement policy of the West that was induced by the economic interest or political expectation, the Chinese Democracy, or its statism governance, is continuing to innovate and flourish. Moreover, with the decline of Western Democracy elsewhere, the Chinese-model of Democracy is emerging as a more useful and convenient alternative for other countries, especially for authoritarian rulers. Combined with the rapid development and ambitious practice of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data, there looms the Chinese model of Digital Totalitarianism as a new standard ahead of the path, not only in China, but also elsewhere. | |||||
