| 内容記述 | 本稿は，マーシャルにおける経済進歩と福祉，人の成長の問題を扱うことによって，創設期の厚生経済学と福祉国家の一つの側面を明らかにしようとする．ピグーに代表される厚生経済学の創設期は，イギリス福祉国家の形成期でもあり，多様な福祉の経済思想，厚生観が存在した．マーシャルは余剰分析など厚生経済学の分析用具を産み出したが，彼の経済思想には，貧困の解消，経済進歩と人の能力，社会の成長という思考が浸み込んでいる．初期の著作から未完の書『進歩Progress』を含めて，マーシャルにおける非帰結主義的な富と生の見方，仕事と生活，生活の質の向上などの福祉観，厚生観を明らかにしたい．また福祉国家とともに，人々の健康と強さ，市民の義務，家族の教育，アソシエーションなど福祉社会の側面が強い点を明らかにし，マーシャルにおける市場と政府の関係について示唆を供したい． | |||||||||

| 内容記述 | This paper examines Marshall's ideas on economic progress and welfare, human development, so as to make clear an aspect of ‘welfare economics and the welfare state in the formative age’. There were pluralistic ways of thinking on welfare and well-being in this formative age. While Marshall generated some analytical tools for welfare economics, poverty, economic progress and human development permeated his writings. The paper tries to shed light on his non-consequential thinking about wealth and life, and on his ideas on work and life, quality of life. The paper also makes suggestions about the market and state, focusing on his ideas about the welfare society. | |||||||||
