| 内容記述 | 本稿は，マーシャルの経済思想を社会改良の時代における歴史・倫理的思考との関わりで捉え，彼の思想体系のなかで考察しようとする．マーシャルにとって，経済学は富の科学であると同時に人間の研究であり，彼は「理論化された人間の歴史」としての社会科学を構想していた．狭義の経済学の対象を可測的な経済的動機，貨幣尺度に関係づけられる部分に限定しようするが，倫理学から経済学に進んだマーシャルは，「富の増大よりも生活の質の改善」を説き，経済的進歩は生活の質，生活基準の向上との関係で捉えられていた．マーシャルの思想には「生活こそが富である」というラスキンの思想と共通するものがあり，彼は，生活と富，人間と経済を結び付けようとしていた． | |||||||||

| 内容記述 | This paper examines Marshall's economic thought in relation to the historico-ethical thinking in the age of social reform. For Marshall economics was not only a science of wealth but also a study of man; and he conceired social science as ‘the reasoned history of man’. While he thought that the measuring rod of money made economics a more exact science, he conceived economics ‘not so much in relation to the growth of wealth as to the quality of life’. He thought of economic progress in relation to standards of life and to human well-being, which seems to have something common with Ruskin's ‘there is no life but life’. | |||||||||
